Concept Sketches
These concept sketches represent the beginning of a new West Wendover downtown, orienting around an extension of Pueblo Boulevard which becomes a new “Main Street”. This new Main Street is crossed by the Victory Highway Historic Interpretive Trail, which becomes a reinvigorated pedestrian pathway connecting the new downtown with the Civic Center and the rest of West Wendover downtown area. The Victory Highway Trail becomes a walking path, for leisure and exercise, pets and bicycles and is interspersed with signage recalling the history of the Victory Highway’s significance. A new pedestrian friendly grid is created and becomes the ordering principle for future development in both directions. A mixture of retail, restaurant, office and higher density residential become the mixed uses that will give this new downtown its synergy and vitality, creating a sense of place that will attract locals and visitors alike.
